A Beautiful Korean Song

I digress. I can't help it. After seeing this on Ask A Korean's blog, I have to put this up. It's a beautiful song. The Korean did a great job translating the meaning of this song here:

  1. Wow, you even listed this clip on your blog!~ It is great!

Jang normally wears Korean traditional outfits, Hanbok, on his concerts, as you can see from this clip. That's his style.

Nobody in Korea really tried before his style music. Poem like Korean songs. Korean Hanboks. His warm personality. That's why many people love him.

Instead of modern style music plays for his songs, he prefers to use a guitar or other Korean traditional instruments like Korean drums. This way, we can focus and appreciate his songs more deeply.

He has very unique style of singing. It is not any popular style of singing at all. I would describe it as "Jang's own style singing and his music."

His fans does not call him a singer, that is not appropriate to describe him I guess. Instead of a singer(가수 in Korean), they call him, Sorikkun Jang Sa-ik, 소리꾼 장사익.

소리 is sound in Korean, 꾼 is the the person who does his job. For example, 소몰이꾼 is the cow chaser. So, 소리꾼 장사익 could be translated to the Real Musician 장사익, or Real Sound Chaser 장사익.

Jang has been meeting his fans regularly. He even writes on his fan site!

Of course he meets his fans before the concert starts and after the concert is over. That's how me and my sister met him in person for the first time!

I've heard that some of his fans even got invited to his own house for teas! They were very lucky I guess.

You wanna know about him more? Just call me!~ ^^

  2. There is something mesmerizing when a person sings with such emotion and looked as if he is totally lost in his world. His movements are very graceful, probably something to do with the hanbok. I thought it was kind of strange to have guitar to accompany his song, which sounds like traditional music, but the effect was amazing.

I am surprised at how accessible he is to his fans, or should I say, friends?
