My version of Meeting Mr./Ms.Kim....
OK, no Meeting Mr. Kim, how about my own version of meeting Mr./Ms. Kim? I mean, even if I trace Barclay's itinerary, my journey will be very different from hers.
I don’t have an adjective to describe my trip to Korea. Everything just worked out, better than I could have planned it. Never have I experienced so much, laughed so much, talked so much, cried so much, ate so much and ....been blessed so much. I must have traveled with an entourage of guardian angels. I was so lucky, too lucky I could not believe it, that I was actually worried – will I use up all my blessings and have none left for the future? On one hand, I just want to bask in it, ride on it and enjoy myself. On the other, I am constantly reminded that I should not take my good fortune for granted, that I have to be grateful and humble....
The trip actually looked like it won’t take off. P, who agreed to travel with me, has an imminent job offer (and she did get a job while I was traveling) and decided not to go. I have never been to Korea, it was cold, colder than previous years and definitely colder than any thing I have experienced or prepared for (yeap, that picture is taken just a few days before I leave). Language was an issue, so was safety concerns..... so many apparent obstacles. But I have equal number of good reasons to go anyway. There are so many public holidays during this time, that I would be able to spend more than 2 weeks for 5 working days leave. If you are an employee who have precious limited annual leave, you will know what I mean. I have started my Korean lessons, so I can read the words and figure out what is what, even though I cannot speak them. In addition, the KTO has an overwhelming volume of information on its website, at its office, and almost every city has a website.
I frantically read and search and collect all possible information I can. I asked travelers who have been to Korea, physically or virtually. I asked anyone I could about their experiences. Usually someone will know someone who know someone who have been. They all said: This is doable, 걱정하지 마세요.

Namu again~ ^^ The snowy picture is somewhat very familiar to me! Where did you get this photo??~ ha ha
ReplyDeleteThat's right, it was so freezing cold and we had a big snow in March in Seoul as you can see the above photo!
Well, the Winter Season looked like it was ready to leave us in March, wearing the Winter's own thick heavy winter jacket and wearing the long boots, even saying good bye to me and then it was stepping out from my front door.
So, I really thought that the long winter finally left us and the season of hope, my long waiting the Spring has arrived early April in Korea.
However, the Winter was pretending leaving us and then stayed with us very long. That was why we even had the recent snow in April last month!
Remember, J, the famous spring cherry blossom got delayed more than two weeks this year in Korea. (By the way,it is kind of chilly today in Seoul, who knows, the Winter has been hiding again at the corner and it is still staying with us in Korea?? ha ha!)
Well, we need to become positive and see more the bright sides all the time. No matter what kind of weather we have today , even it is rainy, snowy, windy, cloudy, or shiny day, we appreciate our blessings and feel happy always!
According to the lunar calendar, it is already Summer. Will we have Spring and cherry blossoms next year?
ReplyDeleteGood morning, J. It is a beautiful day in Seoul. Have a nice day!~ ^_^
