Hangugeo 한국어; 韓國語

Read somewhere that one sure way to prevent Alzheimer’s is to learn something that challenges your brain, something that is totally alien, for example, a foreign language using an entirely different alphabet you are used to, or music.

I think I will do better with language, so I narrowed down to three choices: Thai, Russian and Korean. I cannot tell an “a” from a “b” in these languages, in fact I am not even sure if they use ABC or something else.

It was not an easy choice, for I have good reasons to learn any one of them. My decision to choose Korean is probably more emotional than rational, but I rationalize by saying that it will facilitate my search and understanding of the Korean spirit.

So began my 2,200-hour plan to master Korean. I have now done about 80 hours. Watch this space.
